Engineering and design
New equipment, modifications to what you already run, and the fabrication detail to get it built. Taken from a requirement through to drawings a workshop can quote from.
Mechanical and structural design from our Johannesburg and Somerset West offices.

From requirement to shop drawing
Five steps, with a decision point before any detail work starts.
Brief and constraints
Duty, loads, envelope, service conditions and the standards the design has to satisfy.
Concept
Layout options with the trade-offs set out, so the direction is agreed before detail work starts.
Detail design
3D modelling, material selection, sizing and calculation, and interface checks against existing plant.
Fabrication pack
Shop drawings, weld detail, bills of material and a drawing register under revision control.
Build support
Queries answered during fabrication and installation, with as-built drawings updated at the end.
Project highlight
Pyrolysis unit designed for Onnu Ltd, United Kingdom
Onnu Ltd came to us with a process requirement rather than a design. We took the unit from concept through layout options to detail design — sizing the vessel, feed and discharge arrangement, structural frame and the push floor system that moves material through it — then issued the full engineering drawing set for fabrication. The work covered every stage in house, from the first arrangement sketch to dimensioned shop drawings and bills of material, so the client had a single package to build from.
Typical work
Materials handling
Chutes, hoppers, conveyor structures, guarding and access platforms.
Tanks and vessels
New shells, nozzle and manway modifications, supports and repair detail.
Structural steel
Frames, gantries, mezzanines and equipment supports tied into existing structures.
Plant modifications
Retrofits and upgrades designed around what the survey shows is actually installed.
Start with the brief
Describe the duty and the constraints. We will tell you what we need to survey first.
